Welcome to the seventh grade! I hope that you have all had an enjoyablesummer. I would like to take a momentand introduce myself; my name is Mrs. Rosina Hilton and I am your Language Artsthis year.
This school year during Language Artsclass we will be dedicated to reinforcement of basic grammar skills; review andstrengthening of the writing process, introduction to vocabulary and extendingresearch skills in preparation for the 7th grade SOL.
In order to be successful our team ofparent/guardian(s), student and teacher must work together and have an openline of communication. Please feel freeto contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

6.Use the restroombefore class or during transitions. Studentswill be given one bathroom pass a week to use at their choice. An extra restroompass will be given only in cases of emergencies.

**Note: It is possible to reach all consequences inone day based on poor behavior and failure to adjust to expectations.

Grades:
All nine week grades willbe determined by the following criteria. Grades will be calculated into two categories: Summative (60%) and Formative (40%). Summative assignments are to include (but notlimited to): Tests, Quizzes and Projects. Formative assignments are to include (but not limited to) Homework,Classwork, Daily Warm-Ups, etc.

Studentswill earn grades through classwork, homework, quizzes, presentations, projects,and tests all of which must be completed and turned in when due. Work turned in late will be deducted 20points per day; this means students have one week to turn in work in order toearn some credit. Exceptions will bemade based on individual circumstances and only when a conversation has beenhad between student and Mrs. Hilton.
ChromebookPolicy:
Studentswill be able to have access to their own Chrome Book while in school and athome to complete their assignments and activities. ChromeBooks are asked to be with the student every school day, charged and ready tobe used actively in the classroom. Due to the limited availability of outlets, students must be sure tocharge their Chrome books the evening before.
Chromebook Expectations:
1. Students will beexpected to keep Chromebooks closed until instructed to open
for a specific Assignment.
2. Student will beexpected to have only instructed tabs open ( this means no
games/movies/notes should be open whileworking on assignments)
3. Students will beexpected to their own Chromebook, no sharing
4. Students will be expected to join Edmodo.Students will be responsible for
posting ONLY class related questions or comments, it will not be usedfor social
posts.
