Double-check if your PSP-2001 is cIPL-compatible. If not, you'll be forced to use Fast Recovery on 6.60 which isn't ideal, although not a big deal. Not sure if there's any good reason for you to update - 6.60 only offers Music Unlimited beyond what 6.20 already does and the compatibility is virtually the same. how to speed up the deployment or update of new workstations over a slow wan link
4 Steps total
Step 1: install WSUS
this 'free' piece of MS software is a dream to use in small to medium sized businesses
it allows you to:
a. save bandwidth on your internet connection(s)
b. approve, schedule, download updates to your liking
c. have a status report on all your Windows devices
Step 2: configure AD policy for WSUS
create a Group Policy that points to your WSUS server,
my advise is to use a DNS alias, that way you are able to move the WSUS service to another server without having to update anything (be it the policy or the WSUS agents),
only point the alias to the new host and you are done, I actually do this with a lot of services
put the service to the alternate port 8530 as this allows you to use the IIS instance for other hosted websites on the default port 80 (money is tight right now)
Step 3: install new workstation from scratch
whenever I order one or more new workstations or servers I immediately wipe the vendor's installation
usually it is full of crapware I see no need for in a business environment
Latest Psp Update
put the workstation into AD after having it up and running with all the necessary drivers
then install all MS related software you might need (like Office)
Step 4: copy the downloaded updates to any new installed workstation
copy everything from %WINDIR%SoftwareDistributionDownload from any workstation in the same local network to that same folder of the new workstation
this time the WSUS agent will start the update but it is immediately finished since it will detect the updates as already downloaded
this is only true for the same updates, if the new workstation needs new updates they will still get downloaded
this how to allows you to cut down on the time needed to update a workstation
this is especially true for workstations that are on a remote site and need to download updates over the (usually) slow network link to the main office

WSUS is certainly a great tool, saves significant staff time and helps keep updates consistent on yur network for easy troublewhooting. You may want to change the title to something like 'Deploying WSUS to speed up Windows Updates' it would be more descriptive for your article.
Good job :)

I am looking for something similar for workgroup clients.
We serve a lot off small offices (2-5 pc's no server) and updating a new pc is always time consuming.Idea's?

Really useful
You could also try CTUpdate (WSUS Offline).
This is very handy to have as well.http://www.vulnerabilityassessment.co.uk/ctupdate.htm

How have I never heard this? Need a machine to test this
Just now, after almost 4 years since the previous 6.60 firmware version was released, Sony has announced the availability of system software update 6.61 compatible with its PSP and PSP Go consoles.
Despite the long waiting between these two versions, Sony highlights that, if applied, its new update will only implement some system software stability improvements during use of some features.
However, if you intend to apply it on your device, then save the appropriate package for your portable console, create a PSP > GAME > UPDATE path on an empty memory card or the internal memory, and copy the “EBOOT.PBP” file into the “UPDATE” folder.
Now, make sure the console’s battery is fully charged, connect its AC adapter and plug it into a stable power source, and insert the memory card if you are using one.
Afterwards, go to Menu > Memory Stick (or System Storage) > Game > Refresh to locate the firmware file, press “X” to initiate the upgrade process, and follow all instructions displayed on screen for a complete and successful installation.
Once finished, it would be a good idea to go to Menu > Settings > System Settings > System Information > System Software and check the currently installed firmware. If it reads 6.61, then you’re good to go.
Test Drive Unlimited Psp Rom
In addition to that, after finishing all the aforementioned steps, don’t forget to delete the “EBOOT.PBP” file from your internal or external storage in order to avoid any unwanted problems.

Therefore, download Sony PSP Go Firmware 6.61 or download Sony PSP Firmware 6.61, carefully apply it on your portable device, and enjoy your newly-improved gaming console.
